When visiting the diverse destination of Greece, whether you're planning to go to a beachside location, somewhere inland and mountainous, or a city filled with the vestiges of history, there is somewhere for everyone. If you are looking to explore the history of the country, then you can do no better than hiring a Greek taxi for a day and exploring Athens. However, if you're looking for a beachside break, consider one of the islands, and if active holidays are your thing, head inland to walk or cycle.

Athens

Though you can easily get around the city on foot or by the metro system, one of the simplest ways is to grab a Greek taxi and have them take you straight to the historical hotspots. One of the most important and high profile archaeological sites is the Acropolis. Situated high on a hill, towering over the city, the Acropolis is home to temples dedicated to Athena, and the well-known Parthenon. This site has ruins on it dating back at least 7,000 years, and has known many incarnations in that time. After you have explored the Parthenon and enjoyed the expansive views over the city, get your Greek taxi to take you down to the ancient Agora and over to the stadium that is home of the modern Olympics.

Islands

If a holiday in this country makes you hanker for sun and sand, you're in luck. Book a trip to one of the surrounding islands, then grab a local Greek taxi to get you and your luggage straight to your accommodation from the boat. On the majority of the islands, once you've arrived your feet are the very best mode of transport. Life slows down here, and you can take your time as you stroll along the beaches of Lesvos, or around the historical forts of Crete. Santorini is also somewhere you do not want to miss; the whitewashed houses with blue roofs are the ideal representation of Greek island life, and the sunsets are second to none.

Inland

You may be surprised to learn that this is a mountainous country with more than three hundred of them to be climbed, cycled, or walked. If you're feeling like a challenge, head to Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, which, in Greek mythology, is home to the gods. If you're more of a cycler, choose a trail to take you up and over the Pindus Mountain Range, which serves as the backbone of the country. Make a day of it and stop off at any number of local villages o get an authentic feel for Greek life.
