Pizza is one of the most well known foods in the world. The Italian speciality gained popularity both in the west and the east due to it's delicious flavours and the ability to transform it's flavours using different ingredients to suit the consumers. You can pizzas in a range of flavours from almost no spices to very spicy and flavourful, depending on which part of the world you are and what kind of food the population in that part of the world eats.

Pizza dough recipe / Thin crust pizza dough recipe

I have shared my two favourite pizza dough recipes; first one is quick to make dough recipe and second one is an authentic, delicious, time taking but worth it pizza dough recipe. Both recipes can be used to make either thin crust or regular crust pizza.

Quick Pizza Dough Recipe.

Ingredients:

All purpose flour : 2 cups

Warm water : 1 cup

Instant yeast : 1 teaspoon

Sugar : 1 teaspoon

Salt : 1 teaspoon

How to make it:

First, add warm water sugar and yeast in a container, combine and let it sit for about 5 minutes until you see foam on top of the liquid.

If using food processor : Add salt and flour in the processor at medium speed and then add yeast mixture until the dough looks soft.

If making it by hand : Combine salt and flour and then make well or space in the centre to pour the yeast mixture and gradually combine until soft

Now, knead the dough for about 3 minutes to make it softer and place it in a bowl, cover the bowl with a cloth and leave it for 30 minutes to rise.

For thin crust : Spread the dough on a flat surface until the dough is about the desirable thickness ( 1/2 to 1 cm)

For regular crust : Spread the dough on a flat surface until desirable thickness is achieved ( 1.5 to 2.5 cm)

(Note : Use dry flour while spreading the dough to prevent sticking on kneading surface.)

Authentic Pizza Dough Recipe.

Ingredients :

Double zero flour : 1 cup

All purpose flour : 1 cup

Warm water: 1 cup

Salt : 1 teaspoon

Active dry yeast : 1 teaspoon

Extra virgin olive oil : 1 teaspoon

How to make it:

In a bowl stir warm water with yeast and olive oil let it sit for about 5 minutes.

In another bigger bowl combine flour and salt then add the yeast mixture and slowly combine everything together until one ball of dough is formed. Then let it sit for 15 minutes. ( make sure to cove it with cloth while resting)

Now, knead the dough for around 3 minutes, cut it in half, shape both pieces of dough into a ball and place on a floured surface to prevent sticking and then cover with damp cloth. Let it rest for 3-4 hours at room temperature or 8 to 24 hours in the refrigerator.

( Note : Refrigerated dough should be removed at least 30 minutes before preparing pizza)

Tip : You can freeze the dough in an airtight bag to reuse it.
