How to Make the Most Of Your Stay In Son Bou Villas
Posted: Jun 13, 2014
For families wanting to enjoy a quiet respite from school and work, or older tourists wanting a peaceful little beach holiday, Menorca is pretty close to the perfect destination. In stark contrast to its loud, noisy neighbours Mallorca and Ibiza, the smallest of the Balearic islands presents a safe haven for tourists wanting to escape the bustle, offering plenty of opportunities to revel in natural beauty or enjoy a lazy day at the beach or poolside.
Holidaymakers to whom this prospect sounds appealing are particularly encouraged to seek out the Son Bou villas as a means of accommodation while on the island. Offering enough luxury to please the most demanding guests, but also sufficient privacy and intimacy to make for a relaxing break, they are the perfect home base for a family with children, a couple, or even an individual wanting to relax in an idyllic location.
Those looking for a marginally greater level of excitement will not, however, be left unsatisfied either. There are a number of ways to make the most of a stay in one of the many Son Bou villas on offer, of which a few are detailed below.
Take Day Trips
Day trips are a staple of any summer holiday, and a stay on Menorca is no different. The small size of the island allows for guests with a hired car to drive around it relatively quickly, opening plenty of opportunities for enjoyable day trips to other destinations.
The central location of the Son Bou villas is also conducive to this. Sitting a mere half-hour away from Mahon and Ciutadella (one hour if you take the scenic island tour through Cala’n Porter), the location allows easy access to the two largest urban centres (if there is such a thing on the island) and the many historical attractions each of them offers. Taking a day trip to these or other locations around the island can therefore be an excellent way to spend an overcast day if one happens along!
Go Shopping
Granted, the whole point of a holiday on Menorca is to escape the overly touristy and party-hearty atmosphere of the other Balearics. This does not mean, however, that the island is devoid of opportunities for brand name shopping; in fact, the main shopping centre in Menorca is within very easy access of the Son Bou villas by car. As such, guests will easily be able to fulfil all their retail therapy needs, as well as purchase the usual cheesy souvenirs to their heart’s content. More pressing needs, such as essential goods and healthcare, are also easily accessible either in the resort or in nearby San Jaime, making a day out shopping another excellent option for a day trip on the island.
