Al Koot Fort

Set in the heart of the city, Al Koot Fort is a spectacular example of 20th century architecture. The white square-shaped landmark was originally constructed in 1880, and was a former police station and jail which protected Doha’s Souq Waqif. It transformed into a museum in 1927 which displayed various items such as traditional Qatari handicrafts. Al Koot Fort truly is a work of art with its towers and traditional battlements.

Museum of Islamic Art

The Museum of Islamic Art is an architectural icon of Doha. It was designed by American-Chinese architect I.M. Pei and stands alone on a man-made island with Islamic architecture and geometric patterns, similar to that of the Ibn Tulun Mosque in Cairo. This cream-coloured building features a grand entrance hall and a large domed atrium with a curved staircase, ornate chandelier and tall windows offering gorgeous views over the Persian Gulf. Inside the museum is an extensive collection of Islamic artefacts.

Katara Mosque

Admire Katara Mosque, one of Qatar’s most stunning Masjids that was designed by famous Turkish mosque Zainab Fadil Oglu. This historic mosque is an architectural masterpiece of the Katara Cultural Village, featuring colourful patterned tilework and mosaic designs on its exterior and an intricately decorated interior with carved ceilings and a dazzling chandelier. The mosque also has a towering minaret and interesting objects to admire, including ornaments and inscriptions.

Aspire Tower

Also known as the Torch Doha, Aspire Tower is the tallest building in Doha standing at 300m, with panoramic views of the city. This skyscraper was initially constructed to represent and symbolise the 2006 Asian Games, and is now a luxurious 5-star property featuring a revolving restaurant, swimming pool and over 2500 led lights on its exterior which illuminate in the evenings. Aspire Tower is a modern architectural marvel and a grand testament to the city’s history.

Burj Doha

Burj Doha is a contemporary high-rise tower that was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. It’s a stunning addition to the city’s dazzling skyline, set on the Doha Corniche. The tower took seven years to build and was finally complete in 2012. Burj Doha is noted for its spectacular cylindrical façade, unique patterns, steel and concrete additions and geometric designs; the iconic building is so impressive that it has won numerous awards for its architecture and design.
