The fact that you have stumbled across this blog post indicates a high likelihood of you owning an unwanted car that you want to sell. Perhaps you are planning of selling to an auto wrecking company. That is the best way to go about selling a scrap automobile. However, you should know that there are some tasks that need to be completed before they come over and pay you top cash for your clunker. What are those tasks? Let’s find out!

1. Make Sure Nothing of Value is still in the Car

You may think that your scrap car has nothing of value in it. And you may be right. But not all valuable things are easy to find. There may be jewellery or money that has fallen into some nook or cranny, such as the back of a seat. You may have lost something small and valuable, but never had it occur to you that it could have been lost in the car. This is totally possible, so it won’t hurt for you to have a good look to make sure. It would be a tragedy to lose those money or valuable jewellery.

2. Empty the Fuel Tank

You may have the correct equipment with which to drain the tank of all remaining fuel. If you do, it is highly recommended you do this. However, in the case of this fuel being extremely old, it may have water in it. If it is old fuel, even if there is no water in it, it is better to leave it alone. Don’t siphon the fuel using the technique that doesn’t require the proper equipment. You know what one we are talking about. It is very bad for you.

3. Have Particularly Valuable Parts Removed

Perhaps you have a very expensive sound system installed in your vehicle. You already know that you should not leave it in a car that is going to the auto wreckers to be recycled. That expensive stereo isn’t junk, and you can have in installed on the next vehicle you buy as a replacement.

4. Take Paperwork Out of the Car that has identifying Information in it

Ensure that the scrap car is empty of any documentation that has information that has personal info on you on it. People are out there who may use your personal info for nefarious means.

5. Seat Covers and Floor Mats

You may have bought brand new seat covers and mats right before your car blew a head gasket. Now the vehicle is scrap, but there are these brand new seat covers and mats in it. Don’t forget about them. They are brand new, and you can use them in your replacement vehicle!

6. Gather Documentation

The owner ship title and car registration need to be found and kept handy to give to the new owners of the vehicle. This is the best way to go about things in the real world.
