Menorca is a small island just packed with things to see and do. Whether you stay in a Son Bou villa or somewhere else, you will find the island is small enough to travel around with ease, so you can visit many different places to explore during your stay. If you want to enjoy some of the best experiences, here are a just a few you may want to consider.

Sample the Delicious Local Dishes

Something Menorca has in abundance is delicious food. One of the best things about booking a holiday in a Son Bou villa is the opportunity to get out and sample some of the many local delights – all within easy access of your accommodation.

As you would expect, Menorca boasts plenty of fresh, delicious seafood. One of the classic dishes that you should definitely try during your time here is caldereta de llagosta, which is a tasty lobster stew you will find at any restaurant on the island. Another delicious dish is serviola a la mallorquina, but there are many more - all using fresh local seafood.

Tapas is also very popular in Menorca – as it is anywhere in Spain - and you can't miss sampling the famous Mahón cheese, which is a very important export of the island. As well as sampling the delicious cheese, you can go on a tour of the factory in Alaior to see it being made.

Walk to the Top of Monte Toro

For the best views across the entire island, take a walk to the top of Monte Toro, the highest point. Being a relatively low island, you will be able to enjoy fantastic views even though it is just under 350 metres high. You can also visit the Franciscan sanctuary at the summit.

Spend a Day on the Beach

If you rent a Son Bou villa, you will be in the perfect place to spend a day on the most beautiful beach on the whole island – and also the longest. It is very clean with clear water and there are sun beds to hire and water sports to enjoy should you wish. Menorca is not short of beaches, but this is certainly one of the best.

Discover Ancient History at Naveta des Tudons

Naveta des Tudons is a historical attraction near Ciutadella. This ancient burial site is just one of many on the island, but it is the biggest and certainly the most impressive. It dates back over 3,000 years, and when it was excavated bodies were found inside. If you visit at the right time you can arrange a guided tour.

Join in the Festivities at the Festival of Sant Joan

If you visit Menorca in June, you may be fortunate enough to be present when the Festival of Sant Joan is held. The festival is celebrated all over the island, but the best place to experience it is in Ciutadella.

Menorca is the perfect summer holiday destination, and a stay in a Son Bou villa will offer you the very best of every aspect – including history, culture and beaches. There are so many things to see and do you can keep yourself entertained for weeks on end - take your pick of these top experiences, but there are so many more to discover.
