There are many beautiful places to stay in Menorca when you visit the island on holiday, and among the best is Santo Tomas. This town on the south coast of the island is always popular with holidaymakers, and there are many reasons why. If you're thinking about planning a Santo Tomas holiday, here is a guide to the town so you know what to expect.

Overview

This is small, chilled out resort on the south coast of Menorca. It really consists of one main street - making it easy to get around - where you will find a selection of small bars and restaurants. Because of its size and relative quiet, it is the perfect place to head for a relaxing summer break. And because it is only a 15-minute walk from Son Bou, you can easily head to this popular neighbouring resort to enjoy the longest beach on the island.

Enjoy the Fantastic Beach

However, one of the highlights of a Santo Tomas holiday is its own wonderful very long and pristine beach. As the main attraction, it is very clean and the water is clear and calm. There are lifeguards for the safety of bathers, and there is also a flag system in operation. You can relax all day on the beach, hire a sun bed, or enjoy some of the water sports - it's got everything you could want from a beach.

Things to See and Do

Apart from the beach, bars and restaurants, there is not a huge array of things to do in Santo Tomas – but, in fact, that is indeed part of its charm. This is a place to relax and take it easy but it doesn't mean you'll be bored! Because of its convenient location, you will find it very easy to get out and explore the surrounding area.

Two of the best nearby attractions are historic remains. Torre d’en Galmés is a Bronze Age settlement close to Son Bou. It is located on top of a hill and it is a large and interesting historic site. Cap de Penyes is another nearby historic attraction. It consists of a fortified village dating back to the 4th century and is well worth a look.

Travel Further and See More

If you hire a car on your Santo Tomas holiday you can travel further and enjoy even more attractions. For example, you could head to Mahon for the day. The journey is less than an hour, making it an easy trip, and there are plenty of things to see and do here, including the Xoriguer Gin Distillery and the harbour. You could also visit Es Mercadal, which is next to Mount Toro, the highest point on the island. Climb to the top to enjoy excellent views and visit the sanctuary.

For a truly beautiful setting, a stunning beach and plenty of amenities, a Santo Tomas holiday is the perfect summer getaway. Menorca has many options for peaceful summer breaks in the sun, but this lovely location is certainly one of the best.
