1. America’s joy and pride: Boston terrier puppies are one of the most fun and joyful breeds of dogs to be around. However, not many people know that the Boston terrier was the first official breed to be created in the United States. Their fur has tuxedo-like marking, which is why they were nicknamed the 'American Gentleman'. If you live in the United States, it would not be hard for you to find Boston terrier puppies.

2. Boston Terriers were predominately fighters: Every breed of dog has a purpose they were made for. For example, a Chihuahua was made to be a pocket dog. Similarly, the coachmen crossbred English bulldog with the now-extinct white English terrier to create this breed. The main purpose of Boston Terriers was to be used as fighting dogs given their large size. However, after dogfighting regimes were deemed illegal, the breed considerably lost its size ad began to be found in homes as pets. Nowadays, it is much easier to find Boston terrier puppies near your area, given their timid yet fun nature.

  1. Not always were they called Boston Terriers: About 30 fanciers came together to organize the American Bull Terrier Club in the year 1889. At that time, these dogs were called bull Terriers or Roundheads. However, this led to confusion and finally opposition since there was already a dog breed by the name of Bull Terrier, which had a much longer face. Later in the year 1891, the club changed its name to the Boston Terrier Club of America, and finally the breed's name to what you know now Boston terrier.
  2. Boston terriers are the state dogs of Massachusetts: Since this breed was first created in the state of Massachusetts, it is only right if for the state to honor them as the state dog. The dog has been regarded to be the state emblem since the year 1979.
  3. The name can be misleading: Although these pooches are called Boston Terriers, they are not technically terriers. Given their size and evolution now, they are excluded from the terrier category but make great pups nonetheless.
  4. Hellen Keller owned one: Hellen Keller was known to be very fond of dogs, and during her time in Radcliffe College, she was gifted a Boston terrier by her classmates. Named Phiz, the dog was not really fond of strangers; however, both Hellen and Phiz hit it off almost immediately.
