Why I bought a humidifier

When my husband and I had our first baby we were the happiest people in the world. The sheer joy of holding my baby for the first time was a magic moment and I fell in love with my baby girl instantly. However, the entire experience was not as easy as we thought. No matter how many books you read, nothing prepares you for what is about to come and for the challenges that lie ahead. For me these challenges first appeared when out baby was three months old. It was near Christmas and Ana kept having an irritated skin and nose. No matter how many baby lotions I applied, her problems continued to appear after a few days. That is when our doctor told us that we may have a problem with the humidity levels inside our house. It made sense, because the central heaters worked permanently and in an effort to keep the temperature optimal, we completely forgot about the humidity. As I later found out, there are many people who have a humidifier for babies, because they are so sensitive in their first months.

We began to do our research and we finally chose something that worked for our climate. I chose a humidifier that also had an anti-bacterial filter because I wanted my baby to breathe clean air at all times. I am not one of those overprotective mothers who clean everything in their sight, but since Ana had already developed a sensitivity, I had to be careful for a while. I have to say, the results started to show in just a few days. The mucus clogging in Ana’s nose began to loosen up and her irritations started to disappear. I don’t know how we did not think to buy a humidifier before she was borne, because I swear I probably read 15 baby books. Of course, before buying it we had to decide between a warm mist humidifier and a cool mist one. There were pros and cons to both of them, but we decided to go with the cool mist one, because we read about some accidents online and we wanted to avoid that.

Having a humidifier for babies is very important. We used our humidifier for our next baby as well and we never had anymore problems caused by the low humidity levels inside our home. I am glad that we chose such a good humidifier in the first place, but we did spend some time to choose it. We asked around various stores and we read various articles online before buying it. Any parent should have a humidifier around the house because it will protect their babies from problems that can cause a lot of headaches in the long run. As I found out, no matter where you live, you will need a humidifier or a dehumidifier to create the perfect atmosphere for your baby and allow him to develop in a healthy environment. One thing I can say for sure, it is definitely worth to invest in a good humidifier.
