Hiranyakashipu wanted to punish his son so he made her sister Holika trick him into sitting in the pyre with her. Holika had a blessing of not being burnt but in the pyre, she lost her life, Prahlada remained harmless. Later Vishnu appeared as Narsimha, half man and half lion and killed Hiranyakashipu.
