We all know about the city of Jackson as the capital, and the largest city in the state of Mississipi. We know that the residents are very proud of their traditional southern heritage also. But, the city of Jackson has much more to offer. It is the city with a soul. It was home to many amazing blues, gospel, and jazz musicians throughout the years. However, nowadays more than 175,000 people live in Jackson and more than 500,000 lives within the metropolitan area. So moving there with your family can be a little bit tricky if you don't know what you're doing. Luckily for you, we've come up with a list of Jackson neighborhoods that are great for kids, and their parents.

Therefore, if you're planning on moving to this city before you hire packers and movers to make your move easy, dive into the article and find out what is the best place for you and your loved ones.

Madison

The safety of your family should be your first priority when choosing a neighborhood to move to. And that's where the city of Madison shines. It is listed as the 11th safest city in the whole of the United States. Almost every crime that happens here is property crime, and the number of crimes per 1,000 residents annually is a mere 0.63. And that's not the only thing why this place is one of the best Jackson neighborhoods that are great for kids.

Schools here are amazing also. Pretty much all of the public schools in the town are ranked very high in the state ranks. Additionally, there are also a few excellent private schools if that's what you're after. It's worthwhile mentioning that over 63% of the adult locals have a college degree. Therefore, education is taken seriously here.

When it comes to demographics, the median age of residents is around 40 and half of the people have children. For the time outdoors, there's a nice and large Liberty Park, and both Barnett Reservoir and the Natchez Parkway are bordering the neighborhood. There are lots of things to see and do here so you can start working on your pre-move checklist ahead of time.

Ridgeland

A close second on our list is the neighborhood of Ridgeland. It's a safe place that is also the 14th largest city in the state of Mississipi. It is a city of younger families as the median age is around 34. What's interesting about it is that more than half of the families have kids, so you can be sure that the place is extremely nice for family life. If you have a freshly founded family, this may be the place that you will love. After you relocate to your new residence hassle-free, of course.

The school system here consists of two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. So, the choice isn't overwhelming, but all the schools are rated above average. If you choose to move here, your kids will get a first-class education. There are several private schools available also.

Already mentioned Natchez Trace Parkway goes right through the middle of Ridgeland, so even the most hardcore nature fans will be amazed. There are also many sports fields and playgrounds to enjoy with your children.

Clinton

Clinton is the place where Mississipi college is located, so as you can expect, it's a small college town. Here, education is a tradition. Since this college is the oldest one in the state and the second oldest Baptist university in the country. Almost half of the people living here that are over 25 have a college degree and all of the public schools are highly rated. There are, of course, private schools around, but there's really no need for them if you choose Clinton as the new home for your family.

The median age of residents here is 34.5, so it's also a place full of young people. About half of them have children. Moving here with your family means that you'll be able to take advantage of many parks and walking trails. And since Natchez Trace Parkway goes directly through the Clinton also, you can cycle, walk, or run anywhere you like. Our professionals from Spyder Moving Services told us that this is one of the smoothest Jackson neighborhoods. It is perfect for kids too.

Brandon

The neighborhood of Brandon is marked as being safer than 34% of cities in the US. There's not much crime here and most of it is property crime, so there's nothing to worry about on that front here. And the situation is similar as we continue. The median age of the residents is about 36 and more than half of them have children.

When it comes to the school system, Brandon has seven public elementary schools. All of those feed into one middle school and one high school. All of the mentioned schools are ranked very high, so there won't be any need for private home tuition. There are also four private Christian schools located in the town.

Now, we should mention that Brendon is a small place in the suburbs of Jackson so don't expect any late nightlife. Opposed to that, the city has seven parks with plenty of green space and playgrounds for the children. There are walking trails and tennis courts, so you'll be able to enjoy any sport you like.

Conclusion

As you probably already know, crime rates are very high within the Jackson city limits. Also, the public schools don't have anything to brag about exactly. And that's not what we want for our children. Therefore, we decided to give you a list of places in the Jackson metropolitan area that you will enjoy much more than the downtown of the city. At the same time, you'll be extremely close to the city so you can work in it without any problems while living in any of your chosen neighborhoods.
