A Tiger Safari at Ranthambhore

Situated in the Indian State of Rajasthan Ranthambore has an area of more the 1100 sq. km in the Aravali Hill Range. It is one of the best reserves to see the tiger in the wild. The excursions in the park are organised by the forest department and rules and regulations apply.
This erstwhile hunting reserve of Maharajas of Jaipur is a tiger reserve and a National Park that is home to more than forty tigers. Well protected and close to New Delhi the Capital City of India where international flights land the destination attracts many overseas and local visitors. It is also part of busy Golden Triangle Circuit hence always full.
For tourism purpose twenty percent of the area is reserved. This area is divided into ten zones in which excursions takes place. Tourists are issued permits which allows them to enter a particular zone. These are the zones which give fabulous tiger sightings besides other animals are also seen. The zones also provide robust sightings of bird species both resident and palearctic migrants.
Safaris are conducted in two shifts one takes place in the morning and other in the evenings. Twenty jeeps and twenty canters allowed to ply in these zones in one shift. The seating capacity of one jeep is six people including the driver and the guide. The canter seats twenty tourists.
Zones are allotted randomly during the entry but you can also change the zone on special requests after paying a charge of Rs. 1000.00. Regular visitors know the zones well and book according to the sightings they provide.
Hence if you wish for a private safari in the jeep you have to book online in advance. Same applies to booking a seat on the canter. These canters have a seating capacity of twenty persons and offer a good view of the park. They are good enough for Ranthambore safaris with exciting sightings. The buses offer a cheap ride but lack privacy since the space has to be shared.
The charge for jeep safari is Rs.1500 per person for Indian and Rs.2500.00 per foreigner. During advance booking all particulars of tourists have to be filled in including a photo identity. This photo identity is checked during the entry. You cannot apply for any change after the jeep safari has been booked.
For canter safari charge per Indian is Rs.1000.00 and for foreigner it is Rs.2000.00. The same rules apply whence filling the online form.
