How are Decimal Numbers Contributing to Modern Tech?
Posted: Nov 28, 2020
Though binary numbers are one of the most popular numbering systems right now as the recent trend suggests, Decimal numbers are equally important. Initially, decimal numbers were used only in maths and some of the fundamentals of Physics but nowadays, these numbers are being used in different science and technology work as well.
What Are Decimal Numbers?
Decimal numbers are one of the most popular number systems which contain 0 to 9 numbers. They are widely used with binary numbers for a better user experience. You are already familiar with the decimal numbers in Maths. Yes, all the mathematical calculations are possible only because of the decimal numbers. As per my point of view, these numbers are the most popular numbers after binary numbers.
Go through this article and get detailed information about how decimal numbers are contributing to modern tech and research.
Used in Automation Products
We are in 2020 and today a lot of research & analysis is going on around the world whether it is with Pharma or technology, IOT or Artificial Intelligence. Many automation companies are using decimal numbers as the signal to update the start of a counter.
In a recent project to develop an automatic lock, decimal numbers are used. Since digital locks password only contains 0 to 9 numbers, it is not required to use octal numbers or hexadecimal numbers. Decimals are a perfect choice since it contains zero and nine and also it occupies less amount of space on a device.
In such devices, a user inputs a decimal number as a password, the processor of a device converts it into the binary number and validates that number. Once validating, the processor converts the response into the text and sends that back to the decimal number. This is the most common form of decimal to binary conversion. Everyday Use
If you have made any money transaction, then you have used the decimal numbers in your life. We use decimal for all the mathematical calculations in the daily life. Along with that, we use these numbers in the electronics as well. All the light units and house light bills in measured in the decimal numbers. In short, everything you see around with the number is powered by the decimal and now it has become way more popular number then the binary.
Modern Database use this with binary for search
This is 2020 and there is a lot of data available in every company’s database. To search the data quickly, companies save their data in the form of binary and decimal numbers. When a user inputs any query, a website’s server can return the response in the least amount of time. For that reason, large websites search work so fast. For example, you can consider Google’s search. You might have noticed that Google returns the search result in less than one second. Though Google has the data of billions of web pages it returns the data in just less than one second.
