Anyone lucky enough to take the opportunity to book luxury accommodation at the stunning East Winds St Lucia boutique resort can look forward to exploring a variety of the island's natural delights. This beautiful Caribbean island is blessed with magnificent mountains, flourishing rainforest and colourful reefs. It's also possible to observe a variety of unusual flora and fauna species during holidays to this splendid part of the world. Prospective visitors should take particular note of the natural sites mentioned below.

Anse Chastenet

There are a number of diving schools offering high quality PADI instruction on the island. However, travellers who are really keen to experience the magnificence of the underwater kingdom are encouraged to stop off in Anse Chastenet. Spectacularly coloured fish can be observed during shipwreck explorations around this area of the island. Keen snorkellers and scuba divers might even be able to capture underwater shots of moray eels, parrot fish and octopus in the depths.

Choiseul

The natural diversity of the Choiseul village has to be seen to be believed. A magnificent variety of colourful vegetation grows in the fertile soil. Visitors also have the chance to take guided tours of the sugarcane plantations and cocoa growing areas. Tantalising local produce is available from the bars and restaurants in Choiseul and particularly enjoyable afternoons may be spent on the rainforest zip-lines, which stretch for some considerable distance. National Rain Forest

It may be tempting to spend much of your time enjoying the delights of the luxurious accommodation at the East Winds St Lucia resort. However, true nature lovers are encouraged to head off on guided walks through the national rainforest. This highly impressive area of natural diversity stretches for 19,000 acres through the heart of the island. It is home to birds such as the White Breasted Thrasher, St Lucia Peewee and St Lucia Oriole. Unusual plant species may also be observed during pleasurable rainforest hikes.

Sulphur Springs

The St Lucian town of Soufriere is home to the only drive in volcano anywhere in the world. This unique natural wonder ejects streams of seriously smelly hydrogen sulphide into the air. Visitors are encouraged to pinch their noses and experience the ultimate relaxation of mid-day dips in the spring waters as a prelude to luxury spa treatments at the East Winds St Lucia.

The Piton Mountains

The landscape of the island is dominated by the Gros Piton and Petit Piton mountains. With respective heights of 786 metres and 739 metres, these awe-inspiring mountains represent a serious climbing challenge. However, the local guides are very happy to show keen hikers the way. You'll enjoy spectacular views of the island after reaching the peaks.

For those staying at the East Winds, St Lucia is an open book of natural beauty, stunning beaches, fabulous cuisine and fantastic flora and fauna.
