Before using an online remittance service, you should be well aware of the transfer process. While the steps can vary between service providers, a basic overview of the process is discussed in this post.
Thanks to online remittance, you no longer need to visit any money transfer agent for sending funds to India. Top banks offer remittance services at highly competitive exchange rates to help you make the most of your earnings.
One of the things you should thoroughly understand to complete your online transfers successfully is the transfer process, which can vary between service providers. If you’re new to online remittance, then here is a basic overview of the remittance process-
1. Make a Transfer Request
The first step to initiate a fund transfer to India is to make a transfer request. Log into your remittance account and look for the "Register Beneficiary" option. This will allow you to save the details of your beneficiary in India. Ensure that you carefully enter the account number and other details of your beneficiary before confirming the request.
Once you’ve registered your beneficiary, look for the "Transfer Money" option. You’ll be redirected to a new page where you can enter transfer details such as the remittance amount and select your beneficiary. Confirm the transfer and note the "Reference Number."
2. Funding the Transfer
Once the transfer is confirmed, you now need to fund the same. For this, you need the foreign bank account details of the service provider. It can be found on its online portal. From your foreign bank account, you need to transfer the amount selected in the above step to the remittance provider's foreign bank account.
Mention the reference number in the "Message to Recipient" column while making the transfer from your bank account to the bank account of the service provider. This reference number will help the service provider link the received amount to your transfer request.
3. Processing Online Transfer
Once the foreign bank account of the remittance provider receives the said fund from your foreign bank account, along with the reference number, it will then remit to India. The funds will be sent directly to your recipient's bank account in India within the mentioned duration.
You can also use the tracking number for monitoring the status of your transfer. In case of any queries or delays, you can always contact the service provider's support team. A notification email or SMS will be sent to you when the transfer is processed successfully.
Using Online Remittance Service to Send Money to India
Mentioned above is an overview of the transfer process used by most remittance providers. The steps can considerably vary as compared to the service provider you select. Hence, ensure that you thoroughly check and understand your service provider's remittance process to avoid mistakes and transfer funds conveniently.
In case you are not sure, try to send a small amount first. If the transfer is processed as expected, you can then consider sending larger sums.
