With advanced technology, it becomes easy for anyone to start generating money through building a website. Most entrepreneurs, and business owners, always rely on the websites to get maximum revenue. However, one of the common mistakes most newbies do is using free hosting for their site. While free web hosting helps you to reduce the cost but also has many disadvantages you may never want to experience.

Almost every company offers free hosting for their new users. It is easy to start with a free website but often you are compromised on security & reliability. There are a lot of drawbacks that you need to know before you start using a free site.

Therefore, here this article comes up with providing solid reasons to not use a free website. So let’s explore.

Reasons for Not Using Free Website

There is an old saying "Every Free Thing Comes with a Price", therefore, this means that you need to compromise on various aspects when using a free website. Although you have a genuine reason that free sites never cost you a penny. But they are generating hundreds of thousands of dollars with your site. But how?

As you know that data is more valuable than oil and even money, therefore, the company that provides you the flexibility of using a free site steals your data. Even, most of the time, your data is shared with others that helps them to generate hundreds to thousands of dollars. But this is just a trailer. There are a lot of drawbacks listed below.

1. No Monetization

One of the biggest reasons for not using the free website is the no monetization. No hosting company will allow you to place ads or add affiliate links on your site. This means that you won’t get a single penny against your hard work. Even one of the worst parts is, they stick banner ads at the top and premium space of your sites.

This means, that the efforts you do to promote your site won’t help you to generate money. Even your visitors can get distracted due to the ads. And sometimes, even your competitors’ ads are displayed on your website.

2. Too Many Limitations

There is a minimal limitation of pages when using a free website. This means that you can’t create as many pages as you want. Even with low disk space, you can’t upload a lot of videos or photos. One of the biggest drawbacks you need to face is the very minimum bandwidth.

Once your bandwidth goes over restrictions your website will automatically get closed. So you may ruin your efforts just because of using a free site.

3. Poor & Incompatible Web Design

All free site almost looks similar to each other due to the limited number of templates. Therefore, you can’t use creativity and bring your own design. Another, most important factor is the incompatibility for smartphones.

Your free website is not mobile-friendly, which can ultimately make you lose a lot of potential visitors. This is the biggest drawback of using a free website.

4. Loss of Data & Shutdown

Running a free site means that you are on the verge of losing data at any time. Free websites even have low uptime and no data backups. This means that at any time you may lose your data without any explanation. Even sometimes, you may lose your domain too. This is because it is just the subdomain that is associated with your hosting provider.

Also, the support isn’t provided to the free users that ultimately makes it difficult for you to run your site. Therefore, it isn’t feasible for you to use a free website.
