date night

Is your time with your partner growing a little boring? Or stale?

It happens to ALL of us when you’ve been with someone for a long time. Add in the responsibilities of marriage and kids, and it can feel like it’s hard to find the spark sometimes.

But have no fear! Below, you’ll find five easy ideas to spice up your at home date night. Most of these require very little prep work and can keep you entertained and connecting for hours.

So, grab and fun snack and dig into the activities…

1. Get the Conversation Flowing

First, perhaps you’re busy and finding it hard to connect with your partner. Or you’re tired of talking about the same three topics (kids, world news, and the weather). Ask me how I know this?!

Instead, see these "fun questions for couples" and you’ll find TONS of questions to help get you talking about different ideas. They are the fun would you rather variety too to really help you branch out of your normal conversation.

2. Taste Test

This is a favorite date night activity at our house! Pick a food group and purchase at least three varieties of that food. Then, spend a few minutes TASTING each kind.

We love doing bread, olives, and even condiments.

You will find, shockingly, that there are subtle differences between lots of foods that you buy. We found our favorite olive oil this way, and it can be done with chocolates, beverages, or pretty much anything!

3. Cook Something New

Next, prepare a new recipe together that you’ve never made before. Or split up dinner and have one of you cook a delicious main meal while the other works on dessert. You’ll have fun getting outside of your comfort zone in the kitchen.

(Look up recipes ahead of time on Pinterest or Google to make this activity super easy).

4. Play a Game

Find a game that you and your partner both enjoy. There are a huge number of two-person games available or simply get a game of cards going on your night in. Uno anyone?

To add a little flair, find a fun snack at the store to try on this night too.

5. Do a Puzzle

Finally, there’s just something about putting together a picture from scratch with someone you love.

So, purchase a puzzle that reminds you both of a place or scenery that you love. Then, spend an evening constructing and recalling amazing memories.

Don’t forget the cheese platter and crackers!

*Bonus: I’ve also seen people order puzzles FROM a favorite picture. How cool would it be to put together a puzzle of the two of you?!

In Conclusion

There you go! You have no excuses to make a cozy night in with your partner now. And all of the ideas above are creative and unique enough that you won’t have already done them a million times. So, get connecting and enjoying your relationship in a whole new way. The reward will be well worth the effort!
