One of the most challenging tasks on the internet is managing the IP Address, as it is a complex task. In the article, we will discuss the ways to manage DHCP Servers and monitors. The process is complex and intricate, so it is suggested to be aware while reading the article to avoid any mistakes and follow the steps below.

Add a DHCP Server

If you are unable to add a DHCP server, pursue the whole directions below:

  1. Go to the Settings on your system.
  2. After that, click on the All Settings option.
  3. Then select the IPAM Settings.
  4. You should click on the ‘Add DHCP Server’ to begin the node as a DHCP server.
  5. Later, you will have to select the node you have added to IPAM within the drop-down list.
  6. After that, you will have to choose a detail type or make a new detail.
  7. Ensure that the user details you are giving relate to the DHCP Administration, Local Administration, or the DHCP User group.
  8. Select the Test option to confirm the details.
  9. After doing that, go to the section of DHCP Server Scan settings.
  10. Go to the scan interval, and it is already set to 4 hours. If you would like, you should modify this per the requirements.
  11. If you want to add the scopes, you can do it to a particular box.
  12. Also, you should choose a hierarchy group within the list of the drop-down.
  13. This turns IPAM to allot the subnet masks revealed by the DHCP server to the chosen hierarchy group.
  14. After finishing everything, select the ‘Add DHCP Server’ option to add the node as a DHCP server to IPAM.

Create a Scope on a DHCP Server

If you are unable to create a scope on a DHCP server, pursue the whole directions below:

  1. Reach the drop-down menu of My Dashboards, and beneath the IP Addresses, select the DHCP and DNS Management.
  2. Once you reach, choose the server for which you would like to make a scope.
  3. You should select Add New and choose the DHCP Scope option.
  4. It will reach you at the Add DHCP wizard.
  5. Navigate to the Defining screen, and you should give a name for the scope and other information such as explanation and additional detail.
  6. After that, select the Next option.
  7. You should give the range of the ‘IP addresses for the scope.’ Also, you should exclude an IP address within the field if you would like to by selecting the option ‘Add Exclusion.’
  8. After reaching the Define Scope Properties, you should modify the DHCP Offer Delay period. If not, select the Next once more.
  9. Go to the Scope Options screen and modify the scope options. It is for advanced users, so be careful with it.
  10. When you have done, select the Next option.
  11. Now, check the scope information, and after ensuring everything, select the Create Scope option to make the scope for the chosen DHCP server.

Split a Scope

If you are unable to split a scope, pursue the whole directions below:-

  1. Go to My Dashboards and select the ‘DHCP and DNS Management.’
  2. Ensure that the DHCP section is chosen and pick the DHCP server on that the scope exists already.
  3. You should select the drop-down of Scopes and choose the option Split Scope.
  4. You will reach the screen of Define Split Scope.
  5. Give a name for another scope with which you are about to split the main scope.
  6. Click on the server that you are attempting to split the range and select the Next button.
  7. Drag the slider as per choice. The scope is divided into percent, so you need to select the split according to it.
  8. More clearly, if you choose a 50-30 % split, then the scope will acquire 50 % space of the IP address, so it is suggested to select the secondary scope carefully.
  9. Also, you should set the Offer Delay in ms for secondary scope.
  10. After that, select the Finish option.

Network outages cannot be taken lightly as they are a nightmare for network administrators. These easy-to-implement fixes will help you to get rid of the issue.
