As the holiday season approaches, people around the world will prepare to make holiday greeting cards to send to friends and family. It’s easier than ever to make personalized holiday greeting cards online.

At The Greeting Card Shop, you can make a holiday greeting card using these easy steps:

Step 1: Choose your holiday card

Go to http://www.thegreetingcardshop.com/card-categories/holiday and browse cards - Season’s Greetings, Christmas, New Year and/or Hanukkah are the most popular sub-categories at this time of year. Click to open the card of your choice.

Pro tip – Be sure to look at the inside of the cards. Choose appropriately depending on how much text you wish to add. Some people like to keep their greetings short while others include a full letter.

Step 2: Find and prepare your photo(s)

To make a holiday greeting card with photos, you may need to prepare your photos before uploading them into your card. Scan a physical photo, if needed, or look through your digital files for the best images and save them to your computer/phone.

Pro tip – Use a program like Microsoft Picture Manager to edit your photo(s) prior to upload. This will give you the opportunity to crop (cut), resize, remove red eyes, alter colors or rotate your photo. Don’t forget to SAVE your image after editing.

Step 3: Personalize the card

Once inside your card, there is a toolbar at the top of the page that can help guide you through the personalization process. There are shaded boxes where you may insert your personalized message and/or images.

a. Upload your photo(s)

Click on the box in the area where you wish to place your photo. Click on the upload image button and choose your file. The image will be inserted into your card and sized appropriately. Once inserted, you can still resize or move the image.

Pro tip - Upload your photo(s) before adding text so that you can see how much room you have remaining for text once your images are included.

b. Add your text

Select the area where you’d like to add text by clicking the appropriate text box. For a holiday card, it’s fun to choose a festive color and font. You can also alter font size. Don’t make the type too small or some recipients may struggle to read it.

Pro-tip – In years past, many people included a letter inside their holiday card, sharing the highlights of their year with friends and family. Now, you can type the letter directly onto the card.

Step 4 (Optional): Add pizzazz

You can spruce up your holiday card with small images and decorations. There are sites that offer free clip-art images that can be used when you make your holiday greeting card. For a seasonal look, we recommend stars, lights, or snowflakes.

Pro-tip- Do not to steal images! There are plenty of free resources out there, including a clip art gallery on Microsoft Word.

When you are satisfied with your card, click the orange "Complete" button and you’ll be directed to ordering options. Now you know you to make a holiday greeting card at TheGreetingCardShop.com. It’s a lot of fun to make your own creation – give it a try today!
