Australia in December is generally dry so it is an ideal destination to escape the winter. But that’s not all, it gets really busy during the last month of the year; the city gets ready for the festive season, everyone starts their preparations for Christmas, the summer school holidays begin and other annual events start to appear one by one. So is December a good time to visit Australia? Absolutely! Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why you will want to book a vacation to the land down under during this time of the year.

New Year’s Eve Cruises

Well, certainly there’s gonna be a standout attraction in this list that is an absolute must if you haven’t experienced it already. New Year’s Eve in Sydney is one of the most anticipated events on the Aussie calendar; you can join the millions of locals and expats who swarm the harbour to get a glimpse of the iconic midnight fireworks. Sydney is also one of the first major cities on the planet to welcome the year, which makes it all the more interesting. The NYE cruises on Sydney Harbour gives you some of the best views of this epic fireworks show alongside an extravagant dining experience with top-class food and drinks. Cruising past some of the iconic landmarks of the city while indulging in gourmet food and wine, talk about a classy way to welcome the New Year. In December, adventure seekers can enjoy a myriad of choices as the weather will be mild in most regions. For one, you can head to the Tasmanian coastline and explore it on foot or consider Perth if you're keen on exploring Fremantle and Rottnest. Penguin Parade

90 minutes away from Melbourne, Phillip Island is the largest Little Penguin colony in the world.
