feel blessed

Feeling blessed, thankful, and positive does not always just happen, especially after we’ve watched the news or endured another hardship in our life. Unless you’re one of the lucky few, you will have to work at, but that also means you can always find a rainbow in the middle of a storm. Here are few ideas to feel blessed even when you’re feeling low:

How do you turn a negative mindset/life around?

You must be intentional, deliberate, planned, willful and purposeful about it.

  1. Set aside intentional time to be thankful

This is a great tip for those who don’t know where to start and the easiest way to get started is by setting aside specific and special times in your day or week to be thankful. It is choosing to feel blessed. Having a designated day or time also helps you get in the habit of choosing positivity over negativity or complacency. A great example of this is "Thankful Thursday"--a day set aside to remember your blessings. Mornings are also a good time to be thankful as it can help set the tone for the day (even if you’re not a morning person). The idea is that you schedule it into your life and make it a habit so even when you’re not feeling like it, counting your blessings is still something you do.

How do you turn a negative mindset/life around?

You must apply, practice, exercise and put into action.

  1. Practice the art of thankfulness

Focusing on the positive when it might be hard to see is a practiced mindset. You’ll have to practice mindfulness. You’ll have to apply yourself and bring attention to the current moment. Examples of acting mindful can include journaling, drawing and reading. Personally, I like to use and read positive quotes to practice my mindfulness and exercise the act of being thankful. Breathing exercises can also help you focus your attention on the now, which helps highlight the positive notes in your life. Whatever method you find useful to help you feel blessed will especially be beneficial when you’re feeling low.

How do you turn a negative mindset/life around?

You must act, take steps, and do something about it.

  1. Take action to be more thankful

You’ve set aside time and practiced your mindfulness; now is the time to make a move. That could look like expressing your love for someone because you’re blessed to have them in your life. Counting your blessings by writing a list of everything you are grateful for. Helping someone go through a hard time because it’s a reminder there are good people in the world. Do something you’re good at because everyone has a beautiful natural talent to be thankful for. Put into motion the blessings in your life and you’ll attract more!

It’s okay to not feel like you have many blessings in your life, but remember that with intentionality, practice and action you’ll realize that there is always something to be thankful for.
