During the summer, everyone is on the lookout for a cool water bottle. But in the cold, we don’t even bother thinking about it. This is not a very healthy habit because the change of season makes very little effect on the body’s importance and the necessity for water.

Why don’t we drink as much water in the winter?

The explanation for feeling less thirsty in the cold is pretty apparent and straightforward. We don’t sweat as much in the winter as we do in the summer, therefore we don’t become thirsty as much.

Why do we require enough water in the winter?

Because of the mild temperature, we become hungry quickly and consume a lot of food throughout the winter. As a result, the body requires a proper amount of water to facilitate and speed up the digestive process. Constipation and other digestive issues result from not drinking enough water.

In addition, a substantial amount of water is required to maintain the skin supple, smooth, and hydrated under dry winter circumstances.

Maintaining hydration is essential for optimum bodily functioning regardless of the date, time, or season.

How much water should a person drink in the winter?

As a general rule, the following are regarded standards among various men and women.

Men 8 to 10 glasses of water

Women six to eight glasses of water

Men who exercise ten to fourteen glasses of water

Women who exercise 8 to 12 glasses of water

Women who are nursing 7–10 ounces of water

All of these figures are estimates and vary from person to person.

Innovative strategies to enhance water use during the winter

Other than drinking water in its natural state, there are other intriguing methods to consume water in the winter.

This winter, fall in love with herbal teas. A variety of them, including ginger, lemon, cinnamon, dandelion, fennel, and peppermint, will delight your taste senses. Herbal teas are also known to be high in antioxidants.

Before a meal, consume a bowl of clear soup. It will not only fill you up and give you nutrients, but it will also enhance your body’s water content.

Use water as a humidifier in the room, especially if there are youngsters around.

Adults may benefit from a steam bath to increase moisture in their bodies.

A word of caution: Avoid drinking too much normal tea and coffee throughout the winter because they are heavy in calories (due to sugar) and caffeine.
