CAD stands for a combination of words like "computer-aided design, " with "assisted" and "drafting" standing as alternate meanings for the letters "A" and "D." CAD is the use of computer technology for designing objects. CAD can be traced as far back as the 1960s when the aircraft and automotive industries began to use computers to design parts. With the advent of personal computers (PCs) by the 1980s, software for CAD was developed, and eventually CAD use became widespread. CAD Animation is most commonly associated with animation in movies.
