TheGreetingCardShop.com offers a wide selection of Easter greeting cards. Easter, a religious observation commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is regarded as Christianity’s most important holiday. Easter falls on April 5, 2015.

Spring is a very popular time of year to send a greeting card, in part because millions of people around the world celebrate Easter. Although rooted in religion, many countries also have unique, secular Easter traditions.

Some common customs shared throughout the world include:

  • An Easter Bunny (or other rodent) who delivers gifts
  • Indulgence in sweets, with chocolate being the most popular worldwide
  • Parades
  • Easter greeting cards
  • Dying and decorating eggs

Norway has an unusual tradition surrounding the Easter Holiday. Known as Paaskekrim, or "Easter Crime," many Norwegians use the time between Holy Thursday and Easter Monday to read crime novels or watch dramatic television specials created specifically for this occasion. The tradition is said to have started during Easter 1923, when a publisher placed an ad for a crime novel in the newspaper, sparking great interest and high sales.

Residents of Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary participate in a tradition called "Watering" on Easter Monday. During the festival, boys soak girls with buckets of water. Legend says the girls who get "watered" will marry within the year.

In Sweden, children dress as witches and go door-to-door on Easter Saturday asking for candy. In Guatemala, residents work for weeks to prepare beautiful and colorful carpets made of sawdust and flowers. Residents of Bermuda and Guyana fly kites to represent Christ’s ascension into Heaven. In Haux, France over 1000 people share a giant omelet made with over 4500 eggs.

No matter their location, it’s time to create those special Easter greetings for family and friends. TheGreetingCardShop.com will mail your card almost anywhere in the world.

Along with Easter cards for every member of the family, additional subcategories include:
