iPadNow that you have your Android phone, you don’t have to keep the settings the way they came. You can customize so many things on your phone to make it the way you want and in such a way that caters to your lifestyle.  Here are 6 great ways to customize your Android phone.

Install a new launcher.

By installing a new launcher you will be able to customize many features, such as changing your keyboard version and adding plenty of widgets that make you smile big.

Change your phone’s background.

This is very simple. All you need to do is hit the Menu key and choose Wallpaper.  Select a photo that is appealing to you and there you go: Your very own background that brings joy to your heart.

Add widgets to your phone.

There are different sized widgets that you can get from the Android Market and display on your home screen.  A phone is not complete without plenty of cool widgets that make your life easier and happier.

The Weather Channel is a popular widget, as it furnishes you with updated weather conditions and forecasts.  For your calendar needs, CalWidget is convenient and free, allowing you to see your appointments and such on your home screen.  For the music lover, there is Pandora, which is an app that plays music. Let’s not forget Facebook, which is a daily must for most people.

Each of your home-screen panels can hold multiple shortcuts and widgets, so be sure to customize to your liking.

Make your own sounds.

You can set the default system ringtone, the sound you want for your notifications, as well as the volume level that you’d like.  Simply tap the Menu key, select the Settings menu, and make the changes in the Sound and display. You can even put your MP3’s into a folder on your memory card and listen to your preferred music.

Customize audio.

You can customize notifications and ringtones for a certain person or program.  All you need to do is choose a specific person from your contact list, hit the Menu key, and then hit Options and Ringtone.  Choose an audio file specifically for that person and that is what you will hear when that person calls you.

Have your phone do your dirty work.

If you happen to have annoying people in your life that keep trying to contact you, you can have your phone do some dirty work for you and allow your phone to direct that person’s call right to your voicemail so you don’t ever have to speak to him/her again.

All you have to do is put that person’s information into the contact list, open the profile, and hit Menu.  Next, select Options and check the box for Send calls directly to voicemail. The annoying person problem is instantly solved.

These are just 6 ways that you can customize your Android phone, but there are plenty more.  Simply do some research on additional ways to customize your phone and make your phone the type of device that will bring you much pleasure.
