How to learn to read Hebrew?

Hebrew is one of the most ancient languages of the world having its origin for the past 3000 years or so. It has been there for a long time and has witnessed a vast amount of evolution in arts and literature wherein the ancient language went through a lot of changes in its structure and application. It is now the principle language used for communication in Israel and among the Israelis in the world. So the importance of this language is imperative.
How to read in Hebrew?
Learning to read Hebrew might be a little tricky for a person belonging to a different language background since the letters of the Hebrew alphabet bear no resemblance to the more global languages like English. So it is important to start learning Hebrew in the correct manner. Hebrew can be broadly classified into two sections, Classic Hebrew and Modern Hebrew. It is important to distinguish whether one wants to learn the Classic Hebrew language, which is nowadays used for prayers and global studies about the religion, or Modern Hebrew, which is the mode of oral and written communication in Israel presently. These two are quite different from each other and cannot be overlapped during the learning process.
How to read Hebrew alphabets?
It is important to learn the letters of the Hebrew alphabet first in order to learn to read the language as a whole. But, identifying letters by seeing them will be tough for a person not aware of the language at all. So, instead of trying to learn the script, one can learn the spoken words, where the sounds will be familiar and can be recognized with lesser difficulty, and transliterating them to read them in English, or the language of your choice, as they sound. This will gradually make you familiar to the sounds and eventually aid your cause of learning to read Hebrew.
Transliteration will help you speed up your learning the Hebrew spoken language and as soon as you are adept to the sound, you will soon start recognizing the Hebrew letters with rightly directed efforts. Watching Hebrew movies with subtitles is a good idea as it will help you enhancing your vocabulary.
Learning a new language is always a challenge. But with the above steps you are sure to be benefited and will eventually get better at understanding and reading Hebrew in a short period.
