The holiday season is near! Some business owners see the holidays as a great opportunity to increase their sales while others think it is a difficult period, with a low volume of work, reduced sales and income and they are looking forward to recover in the post holiday's period.

Especially at Christmas, which is near the end of the year, they see their turnover to fall dangerously so they are not able to experience the festive atmosphere as some others do, who have predict and acted in a different way. What actions can you take to reverse the decline of the company?

Below, we present some suggestions for things you can do before and during the holiday's period which will permit you to achieve much better results than the previous years.

First, you have to decide, you and your staff, that this Christmas your company will do better than in the past. It may sound simple, but it is crucial to decide as a team and to have a total agreement to achieve that goal. If you start taking action and you, first of all, you are not determined to stick to this idea, then, there is no meaning to proceed because this will end in loss of precious time, energy, money and will bring only disappointment.

Give specific directions to your staff for the holiday season. For example, ask the marketing department to track the statistics of previous years, what was the item with the best sales over this period. Determine exactly the data and give precise instructions and steps to be done. Since you spot these items, create new proposals and offers for that product or service and promote them again.

Find out what you can sell immediately. What is your product or service which is expected to have the highest demand for the next few days before the holidays. Prepare similar offers and start selling.

Change the way you are operating. If in the past you closed your company for several days and you were more flexible with the schedules of your employees, then, inform them about the steps you are going to take and the increased amount of work you are expecting. Be prepared to operate under intense pace. Clearly this period is characterized by increased traffic. But you must not reduce the quality of service you are providing to your customers. For some of them, this will be the first time that they will work with you and you want them to have the best impression of your business, your staff and of course the products and services you are offering. Mind that they have to be totally satisfied in order to become faithful customers of your company.

Do something different. Beyond your standard offerings, create new ones that will attract the interest of many more potential customers. Do not simply repeat the successful actions of advertisement and promotion for your products. During this period you have to further boost your marketing actions. Get more advantage of Internet's applications like social media (facebook, twitter, etc.). Increase your website traffic and effectively convert your visitors to customers. Use smart e-mail marketing strategies, etc. There are actually many ways that do not cost you dearly. Reach a business consulting company that can guide you through these cheap and effective steps.

Make more effective the period before holidays for your existing customers. Make offers and suggestions targeted to your customers. This is a way to show them that you recognize the fact that they support your company and they are loyal buyers. Give them more incetives to buy from you. These can be others than simple discounts. There are several ideas how to use your existing customer base. Be creative! Like: business gifts, not necessarily very expensive, rewards, if they belong to the loyalty club of your company, etc. All the above fit the festive mood and can have a positive impact not only on increasing customer loyalty in your business but they are also a chance to get new customers. You will also be unique considerably in the mind of your customers.

The holiday season is a great opportunity for your company. Just see it in this way. With smart moves, planning and anticipation of actions you can "break" the standard mode of the past. The first step however is your own decision and commitment to it.
