If you're booking a summer holiday to London, shuttles are the best way to get you straight from the airport and into the heart of the action. And, there is so much action in the UK capital in summer that you’ll need all the time you can get! The city plays host to a slew of great summer events, like concerts in Hyde Park, major sporting events, outdoor theatre, and so much more. Get out there and experience it!

Wimbledon

This year from June 29 – July 12, Wimbledon takes place in the All England Club in Wimbledon, in the Southwest of London. Shuttles from Heathrow may take you through the area so you can get a feel before you look some tickets for the tennis. Be prepared though, getting tickets is a real challenge and can take a fair bit of time. But you can also queue to just get onto the grounds and watch the matches from one of the hills. Plus, if you just show up for the day for general entry, you can still have your Pimms and strawberries while watching some of the greatest in the game warm up on different courts before their big games on centre court. It's nearly as good as the real thing!

Notting Hill Carnival

There's nothing quite so much fun as a street party in Notting Hill! London shuttles from the airports can take you to your accommodation in the heart of the city, including Notting Hill, if you choose to stay there. The incredible Notting Hill Carnival runs from August 30 – 31st this year. A parade, masks galore, Caribbean themed street foods and music combine in a colourful profusion to provide the biggest party of the year. A celebration of London’s multicultural past, this street carnival is the largest of its type in all of Europe.

Open Squares

If you're in the capital on the weekend of June 13 - 14th, you're in for a treat; more than 200 of the inner city gardens and squares (which are usually closed to the public) will open their gates for a weekend. It’s a great way to get to see a bit of the city that most people never will.

Naked Bike Riding

If you want to do something good for the environment, unusual, and quite daring, then plan your trip to coincide with the great naked bike ride on June 16th). Once you've arrived at your accommodation on the London shuttles, there's no need to even unpack before you take part in this event! This huge ‘as bare as you dare’ bike ride makes its way through the city in order to draw attention to climate change and our overdependence on oil. If nothing else, watching this event from the sidelines will be unforgettable.

Red Bull Soap Box Race

On July 12th, you could head to north London to witness what could be the coolest and craziest race in the city: the Red Bull Soap Box Race. Think of the races where kids build soapboxes and race them down a hill; now think of that on steroids and you have an idea of what to expect! Get there early to set up in prime viewing spot where the 70 teams will contend for this year’s title.
