Nothing says family adventure holidays like a fast and furious ski trip away. If you really want to get your kids excited, why not take them for a "wild west" experience that combines incredible scenery with fabulous skiing in Jackson Hole, USA? Stay in a mountain hideaway and enjoy cosy nights by the fire after fun-filled exciting and thrill-seeking days out on the slopes. What's not to love?

An Introduction to Jackson Hole

Just a quarter of a century ago, few people in the UK had any idea that Jackson Hole even existed. Today, however, it is one of America’s most popular resorts. Nestled into the Teton Mountains, in Wyoming, the resort has recently invested considerable resources into updating lift systems and other facilities to keep up with its increased number of visitors.

The resort sits in a valley 60 miles long and 15 miles wide and, although rather remote in location, its remoteness is part of its appeal. Home to elk, moose, coyote and even wolves, kids will love the idea of family adventure holidays to this resort. You can even take a snowmobile trip into the Yellowstone National Park (which is very close by) to see what wildlife you can spot.

Ski to Your Hearts' Content

During the winter months, the whole area around Jackson Hole is blanketed by snow and the season frequently lasts from November right through to April. Although renowned in the USA for its steep challenging terrain and its vertical drop of 1,262 metres, the resort is not all about expert skiers seeking the ultimate in challenges. In fact, it is absolutely perfect for family adventure holidays too. There are many runs suitable for beginners and youngsters as well as those who prefer to ski around the famous steep chutes and powder-filled bowls.

The main ski area of Teton Village is covered by the local lift pass and is only a 15-minute bus ride away. If you have younger children and want to enjoy the more gentle slopes of Snow Kong Mountain, you will need a separate pass. If it is powder action you're looking for, then Grand Targhee, a 90-minute drive away, is a fabulous option.

Visiting Teton is a unique experience and has a real old-fashioned, "Wild West" cowboy feel that evokes visions of a movie set. Kids will love wandering around the resort and enjoying a refreshing break in one of the Wild West themed restaurants or cafes that line the streets and buzz with activity.

The vibrant resort of Jackson Hole is ideal for family adventure holidays - not only because of its unique appeal and excellent skiing, but also because there are other exciting activities to get involved in too. Snowmobile excursions, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, wildlife safaris and dog-sledding, for example, are great fun for every age and the perfect way to see more of the surrounding area.
