Abortion has become one of the most common phenomenon across the world. There may be thousands of reasons why women go for abortion and these may range from personal choices to medical reasons. In very rare cases, one may hear that women actually prefer undergoing through this process than using precautions, but in most of the cases they are somewhere aware about the repercussions of this process. Apart from the emotional side effects, there are a range of psychological side-effects, hormonal imbalance as well as the physical effects, of course. Here are some of the common physical complaints that women talk about post-abortion.

Excessive stomach pain

This can be more or less related to the cramping that one observes during menstruation cycle. Excessive stomach ache is a common problem and this is also followed by bleeding. The bleeding results because the uterus wall starts shedding. This results in heavy bleeding. This may happen for some days, but if women find something abnormal in the trend, they should visit the gynaecologist for proper medical check-up.

Infection and fever

Abortion can bring with itself, the infection, which is said to be the most common physical effects of this process. Also, this may be accompanied with the low-level fever. Usually fever symptoms appear in the women who are anaemic or weak from within. This is so because such women take longer time to recover from the abortion process.

Hematrometra

This is yet another physical effect of abortion. The condition refers to accumulation of blood or its retention in the uterine cavity. A lot of women also experience bowel injury as well as perforation in bladder or uterus.

Miscellaneous related issues

Though abortion in itself is a very cumbersome process, but the worst part is that there are a lot of side-effects related to it. It is emotionally and physically painful and also affects the psyche of a woman. A lot of times after the abortion process, the contraception products or parts of these products are retained within the uterus only, which then need to be removed from within in a different process.

A woman mostly remains on a roller coaster of a lot of emotions post abortion. Part of this trend is attributed to the psychological and emotional factors, and rest of it is to be blamed on the hormones. A woman after abortion usually starts blaming herself for the baby’s death. However, it is to be understood that aborting a foetus may not always be a lady’s choice and sometimes the medical conditions may worsen if she carries with the pregnancy.

It is therefore very important to consider that an abortion takes toil on woman’s overall health, whether physical or emotional. A man by her side should consider her emotional mood swings and also need not blame her for the situation. As far as women are concerned, it is paramount that they compensate the lost health through proper dietary and lifestyle habits. Eating and living healthy with mind, body, heart and soul will work well for recovery.
