Whether you’re with your family looking for fun and excitement, or a couple wanting to spend lazy romantic days and nights with each other, you’ll find what you’re looking for on a Cala Galdana holiday.

One of the most picturesque resorts in Menorca, this wonderful paradise affectionately known to many as the Queen of the Calas, is definitely one of the most exquisite locations to lounge around, sunbathe, swim a little or just explore the coves around the horseshoe bay. If you want more active pursuits there's plenty o enjoy in that department too.

Here are a few things to know before you go to ensure you get the very best out of your precious break.

From the Airport

Transfers. The airport is some 35 kilometres or 22 miles by road from the resort of Cala Galdana. Holiday here and nothing can be easier than getting to the resort so the fun can begin. Taxis outside the airport offer their services on a fixed price basis or you can hire a car.

Travelling with children. The regular local taxis will not be equipped with child seats, so expect to carry small children on your lap or beside you. If you want the added assurance of child seats, you'll need to pre-book a taxi or hire car specifying the need before you arrive.

Have an updated map. While it is easy getting around Cala Galdana, holidaymakers are encouraged to ensure their maps are up-to date, as the government has quite recently renumbered some roads.

Enjoy the ride. It’s a short distance, but a rather slow ride when getting to Cala Galdana. Holiday here and you'll very soon get used to the relaxed and laid back vibe from beginning to end.

At the Resort

Exploring the island is fairly easy once you've settled in to your accommodation at the resort. Shopping and sightseeing are possible not just in the resort itself, but also in neighbouring places. You may want to head west to Ciutadella or east to Mahon (Mao on most maps and brochures) for some exploration and retail therapy.

Buses. Whichever direction you’re going, you’ll almost always certainly find it easy to get transportation - Ciutadella and Mao can both be reached by public transport. In fact, there are buses that ply the Ferreries route more than ten times a day. While there are bus timetables available, many of them are fairly relaxed when it comes to sticking to the schedule – so be flexible.

Walks. At some points, the beaches are only accessible only by steep steps so you do need to be aware and take care. There are some truly spectacular walks around this particular region of the island.
