Keeping the Children Happy on a Holiday to Menorca
Posted: Dec 11, 2013
Keeping the children happy is always a priority for families staying in villas in Spain. Menorca is a great choice of destination as there are so many activities that will please children and adults alike. Whether you want to make the most of the wonderful weather with outdoor activities or are looking for a bit of respite from the sun, you will find plenty to suit every member of the family.
Outdoor Activities
Most children love to spend their days splashing about in the water, and many villas in Spain will have their very own pool. But there are also some wonderful Aqua Parks on Menorca. Aquapark Los Delfines offers a combination of wet and dry fun. It has great water slides and pools but also bouncy castles and trampolines for smaller children. Adults might also like to visit the Los Delfines commercial area for a shopping opportunity; it’s about 10km from Ciutadella. Cala en Bosch also has a water park, Aquarock Cala en Bosch, which offers a variety of entertainment including Go Karting and the usual water fun facilities. Both water parks offer relaxation areas for the adults.
If your family loves the sea the children should be entertained by a trip in a glass bottom boat so they can see the local sea life up close. There are two glass-bottomed boats that operate on the southern coast and they often offer swimming stops too. They depart from the Cala en Bosch marina and sometimes offer sunset trips.
The Lloc de Menorca Zoo is a great place to take the children if they love animals. The zoo has an ever-expanding range of native and smaller exotic animals in beautiful surroundings, including lemurs, emus and monkeys. The animals roam free in landscaped enclosures and the children can get up very close to some as there is a petting area.
The Castillo Menorca near to Ciutadella is an area that combines outlet stores with children’s entertainment. There are places to climb, swim, bounce on and swing from for the children and shopping for the adults. There’s a boating pool and a mini golf course as well as sand pits and a climbing wall.
Indoor Activities
If you want some respite from the sun you can also find activities that will give you just that. The Son Bou Bowling and Entertainment complex has activities to suit all ages, as alongside the bowling alleys there is a soft indoor playground for younger children and pool and air hockey tables. The café will provide refreshments and all ages are catered for once again.
Another great option is to combine entertainment with education by taking a trip to the allegedly haunted 19th century fort Fortalleza de la Mola. Children can explore the labyrinth of underground tunnels and rooms and see the guns in the underground galleries - it should really get their imagination going. It’s a good place to visit after 6pm as the light then adds to the mystery. To add to the enjoyment you can get a water taxi from Es Castell to make it an even more special ride back to your villas. In Spain, family groups are always well catered for, and this site is a perfect example.
Keeping the children happy will prove easy when choosing from Menorcan villas in Spain. Activities for every interest will make the days full, enjoyable and memorable.
