Become an Authority in Your Industry by Hosting Seminars

If you want to become a recognized expert in your industry, you must develop a reputation that shows you know what you’re talking about. One way to accomplish this goal is by hosting informational seminars.
Be an Expert
You don’t have to know more than everyone else, but you do have more knowledge than many others. Put that knowledge to use by hosting a seminar or conference where you speak on a topic related to your field.
Don’t be intimidated, thinking others have more experience or knowledge than you. Just remember, no one has had your exact experiences or seen things through your eyes. You have something of value to tell others no matter how long you’ve been in business. If you’ve learned lessons the hard way or struggled to get where you are, you can impart that knowledge to others who are in the same place you were when you started out.
Work with Other Experts
Network with others in your industry. Instead of looking them as competition, consider them resources you can use. Host a seminar together, which will benefit both of you.
You don’t have to be the sole speaker at one of these seminars. Consider other business owners and executives who are in a complementary business, and ask them to join you. For instance, if you have a wellness spa, you could have a company that sells beauty products be a sponsor or co-host.
Learn How to Speak Well
Develop your speaking skills by working with a business speech coach. They can help you learn how to project your words and speak with confidence. As you book more speaking engagements, you will build more confidence in your own abilities. As you’ve heard before, "practice makes perfect." Even if you never get totally comfortable with speaking in public, you will become more adept at the task.
Don’t let an accent or certain speech patterns prevent you from speaking in front of others. A speech coach can teach you how to overcome those obstacles, and you can learn how to speak clearly where you are easily understood.
Become a Guest Speaker
Broaden your base of followers by offering to speak at other events. You’ll meet a whole new audience who may never have heard of you, but who will become loyal followers. This increases the level of exposure you have for your own events.
When you are seen as an authority in your field, people will go to you for answers. They will then turn to your company when they need the products or services you have to offer. These same people will recommend you to their friends who need the same help.
Once you develop your reputation as an expert in your industry, you will never have the same struggle bringing in new clients or customers again. You’ll be seen as a trusted resource, the person others turn to when they need to know what to do or have to buy a solution to their problems.
