Renting Son Bou villas is a great way to enjoy your stay in Menorca - whether you are looking for a retreat to build up morale in your organization or simply searching for a quiet getaway that you and your family can enjoy. If you truly want to make the most of your stay, though, then you will definitely need to include the following attractions in your itinerary.

The Beach

This is the single and most popular reason tourists frequent the area in the first place. Not only does the resort boast the longest stretch of white-gold sand on the island, but the presence of numerous amenities and accommodation make it very easy to stay in Son Bou. Villas are located conveniently near bars, restaurants and, of course, the beach – perfect for those who simply want to unwind and shake off all that pent-up stress with minimal fuss.

The Paleo-Christian Basilica

Located in Mahon, this little gem is easy to get to by car from the resort. The basilica itself appears at first glance to be a pile of rocks surrounded by a stone fence, but closer inspection will reveal pillars and markers indicative of a modern-day cathedral. A nearby sign provides a top-down view of the ruins to give you a better idea of the outline. The tale goes that this basilica was constructed around the 4th to 5th century AD by a community of poor monks in one of the earlier waves of Christianisation. It was later sacked by the Normans and then occupied by Arabs but has lost none of its quieting solemnity over the centuries.

Lloc de Menorca

The island's zoo is an excellent destination for the young and the young at heart. It is home to exotic animals like llamas and lemurs, as well as more familiar ones like goats and rabbits. What makes the zoo truly special, however, is the heart of it all. This zoo impresses not with its grandeur or jaw-dropping attractions, but with the very natural and well-maintained habitats of the various animals located within. Many of the animals are also rescued from abandonment or cruelty – a factor that makes the zoo even more appealing to tourists and locals alike. Its relatively close proximity to the Son Bou villas makes it highly accessible if you decide to rent a vehicle to get around the island.

Museum of Ciutadella

If you want to breathe in the history of a region, what better place to visit than the local museum? This relatively humble museum is located makes up for its simplicity by hosting an array of artefacts that shed light on Menorca’s storied past. Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Moors, Aragonites, Turks, Barbary pirates, Britain, France – all these people had a hand in shaping the island's history (usually by conquest) while leaving all sorts of relics in their wake.

Keep all these attractions in mind and you’ll be able to make the most of staying in one of many beautiful Son Bou villas around the area.
