If you fancy getting away on a break far from the hustle and bustle of daily life in the United Kingdom, but you don’t really want a party island – consider heading to Menorca. Villas dotted around the island give you the choice of rural or beach accommodation with excellent access to all the main attractions.

The smaller, sister island to Majorca, these delightful Balearic islands are located in the Mediterranean and are part of Spain. The island has a rich, deep and proud history that dates back to the prehistoric period, some evidence of which can be seen in the megalithic stones on the island. When you're planning a visit to Menorca, villas are the ideal solution. You can come and go as you please, and spend your days learning the fascinating history or simply lazing about on your favourite beach – and there are plenty of those to offer you whatever kind of holiday you desire.

Active holidays

If you are the type that wants to get out and have an adventure while visiting Menorca, villas near the delightful beach of Son Bou are ideal for you. Son Bou is one of the most sought after resorts on the island, and the beach is second to none. The resort is well established and well facilitated and the long, white stretch of sand is perfect for a game of beach volleyball, some active watersports or even some distance swimming. It is also the ideal place to give windsurfing a go - even if it's your first time. As the longest beach on the island, it is also ideal for a long walk or, if you are feeling even more energetic, a jog along its stunning shores.

Relaxing holidays

If the idea of getting sweaty and active on your annual beach break is not all that appealing, you'll still find the ideal destination in the beautiful island of Menorca. Villas situated within access of the lovely Cala Macarella will see you able to spend time on a small beach with fine white sand and calm turquoise waters. The trees that surround the cove make it feel very exclusive and private. Similarly, if you're looking for relative isolation and privacy, you may want to head to Son Saura. Son Saura is on the southwestern side and is made up of two beaches, which come together to form one of the biggest coves on the island. This is an ideal place to take a picnic lunch and simply relax and sunbathe for an hour or two – or longer.
